Purley
Canoe Club is now a member of the Open Canoe Association (OCA), which
is a national organisation for open canoeists. The OCA provides a
wide range of activities throughout the year and across the country,
to accommodate the wide range of abilities within the association.
This includes taster sessions for complete beginners and people who
are new to the sport right through to a few days camping trips, white
water trips and sea trips.
As
a member of the OCA, Purley Canoe Club members can participate in
these events and benefit from the excellent coaching that the OCA
provides to all its members. Purley Canoe Club hopes that our membership
of the OCA will enable our club members to develop their interest
in open boating as well as develop their skills in this exciting and
challenging discipline of paddlesport.
As
a member we have volunteered to act as the London and South East Regional
representative for the OCA. This means that we can provide advice
to new or existing members of the OCA about the activities of the
OCA and how it can help you develop your interest in the sport. We
also organise a few OCA/ Purley Canoe Club open canoe events for the
OCA each year. These are aimed at developing regional interest in
the OCA and providing opportunities for local members of the OCA to
get together for a quick paddle.
